Yes, this is the exact same item as the Jornada 567 Mainboard / Motherboard! We have it listed twice because a lot of people didn't realize that the easiest way to upgrade their Jornada 564 or 565 to 64Mb of RAM was simply to upgrade their whole unit to a Jornada 567!
By changing your motherboard to this 64Mb 567 you are increasing your built in RAM from 32Mb to 64Mb WITHOUT using up your compact flash slot!
Jornada 560 Series Mainboard / Mother board Installation Tips
Notes:
Remember to always be patient, not force things, look carefully at how it is put together as you take it apart.
You will need a small Phillips screwdriver and a Torx - T-5 or T-6 screwdriver (we sell those too). It will also help to have a PDA opening tool or small tool as described below. The screws on the back use a Torx - T-6 screwdriver and you can also use a T-5 but a T-4 is too small.
Note that the screw just to the left of the battery connections is usually mounted into a piece that is just soldered onto the existing mainboard. So it may just turn and turn and not come out. This will also mean that the mount has disconnected from the motherboard and is still attached to the backplate. It will need to be removed before the backplate can be put back with the new motherboard since the new one will also have a mount on it.
If you purchased our PDA opening tool then you can use that to help with lifting the backplate (and getting the LCD out). If you didn't, then get a thin sturdy piece of something about 1/3" wide that won't bend easily.
Note, there are 4 ribbon cables that connect to the mainboard. One you can see when you remove the backplate. The other three are at the bottom on the opposite side between the LCD and the mainboard (LCD, digitizer and button board).
The inverter cable (the pink wire and white ribbon wire) connector has a ridge that sticks out on the side. This matches a groove in the connector so that it can't be put in backwards.
Our Installation Process (use at own risk! this is just how we take them apart)
Although you might want to take your Jornada 560 series PDA apart in a different order, the one we've found that works best for us is to:
Remove the back plate.
Remove the screws that hold the mainboard to the frame, (there's one just to the left of the headset jack and another near the top of the compact flash slot) W3XT
Remove the rubber bumper that runs around most of the unit.
Remove the faceplate (you can slide the PDA tool under the retaining clip to lift it)
It's easier to remove the small Phillips screw, ribbon cable, and inverter cable and take the button board off completely than it is trying to leave it on and replace the mainboard.
Remove the button board by taking out the screw and using the PDA tool to GENTLY work the edges out from under the frame clips. Then disconnect the inverter cable and ribbon cable.
Disconnect the two ribbon cables from the mainboard. The big wide one and the smaller 4 wire one. (these are from the LCD / Digitizer)
On the opposite side disconnect the last ribbon cable.
A little clear plastic piece fell out!!?? It's probably the light tube that goes in the hole next to the power button at the top of the faceplate. Put it back with the shorter end into the hole in the faceplate. The little arm that sticks out goes on top of the little nub. You will probably need to keep the faceplate facing down to keep this from falling off again when you re-assemble the unit.
Reverse the process to re-assemble.
